"The
artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the
place; from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap ofpaper, from
a passing
shape, from a spider’s web."
Pablo Picasso

Art therapy uses the
language of our dreams: symbols and images, to connect with the deeper
layers of our consciousness in order to express and transform inner
conflicts and tensions in order to reveal the original patterns of our
true selves.
Intuition
is closely connected to the functions of the right brain. Our society
tends to focus on teaching and demanding from us the abilities of
the
left brain.Once
we are adults we usually know no other way of
perceiving the world. Art therapy is designed to bring
out the sensory information of the right brain, and reunite us with
the other, often unconsious parts of ourself. Art therapy works with
images and symbols, which can be explored in different ways, varying
from working with dreams and inner journeys to using drawing, painting,
working with clay and soapstone, photograpy or film.
Working
with colour, texture and images is a powerful way to deal with complex
issues in your life without having to sit and talk and analyse it. This
doesn't mean that you aren't going to understand what you are doing.
There are ways to work with the things you are making 'unconsciously'
to uncover their meaning. They will connect with your dreams and with
feelings that you had inklings of but couldn't quite get to the surface.
The
sessions work well when you want to make a change
in your life, heal old patterns, work with physical symptoms, when
you want to make changes in your relationships, or find out more about
yourself in a new way.
